The Great Deception

Weekly Message, October 29, 2005
Written and transcribed by Terry Grant

This is a continuation of a message I have transcribed and edited from a talk Ishvara gave on October 2, 2005. - TG.

Ishvara:

There really is no way Life has to be.  The great deception of human existence is the belief that there is "a way" Life is supposed to be, bringing in some kind of "Creator," or intelligent design.  "Somebody must have made this up," the thinking goes.  Somebody did make it up, but the people who made it up weren't any smarter than you.  They just had a little bit more nerve.  They said, "This is the way it is."  If other people are scared enough, obsessed enough with their survival, they will react, "OK, let's go along with that. We'll write scriptures; we'll create systems, and we'll be safe; we'll be all right."

Systems and structures have to be crystallized somehow, because after awhile people will forget what "the way" was.  It has to be crystallized, it has to be structured.  It becomes, "He said such and such, I think."  People hear that and say, "Sounds good; we'll go with that."  Sometimes you are like a puppet manipulated by somebody who is pulling the strings, working your mouth.  In awakening to Life itself, the scary thing is you realize that it has all been made up.

In true awakening, you can get to the place where you recognize it is the way you say it is going to be.  You don't always say it by yourself; other people help you say it.

When I came into the Natural State, there was a moment of horror when I realized, "This stuff has all been made up.  Somebody said, 'This is the way it is,' others responded, 'OK, that seems reasonable, so that's the way it is.'"  We have a long history of scriptures and systems and structures and beliefs, and all of it is made up.  Some of these things have served a purpose, but they have also been limitations.  That is the nature of Life: the highest good is always taking place.  At the time these things were created, that was the highest good.  When you are dealing with a group of chicken-littles, you have to prove to them that the sky isn't falling.  But if you have to keep proving that the sky isn't falling, and there are no more chicken-littles, something is out of date.

This realization is not a popular awareness.  People don't like me to say "There is nothing.  There is no outside, no inside, no God, no Creator, no divine being, no intelligent design."  There is only intelligence, and it doesn't design.  It just Is.  Intelligence just Is.  I don't know why it is so difficult for people to accept that it just Is, because the moment you accept it just Is, you realize that something is projecting into "is" to make "is," and since it is not some "intelligent designer", it must be YOU.  There is nothing else.

I know, really, the "intelligent design" is the bacteria in your gut.  They have created everything.  They would have no life if it weren't for you, so they have created you.  What is the payoff of having a human being?  It is food for bacteria.  So the bacteria are the intelligent designers.  They create everything in order to have something to eat!  Sounds silly, but it is a lot more believable than the idea that there is some unseen "God" creating everything, isn't it?

In awareness, we become more comfortable with realizing there is nothing.  We have a clean slate.  We, as a collective, create Life, moment by moment.  The mass belief has the bigger portion of control.  Yet while clarity and awareness seem small, they are far more powerful than unconscious direction.  Just a small group of people can change the entire scenario.  If individuals are following the old pattern, they are not really conscious of that; they are just staying within the accepted lines.  They say, "We're told we must stay inside the lines; don't color outside the lines; stay inside, and you get good marks in school."  Right there, the program begins.  Then somebody comes along and says, "What lines?  I don't like the look of that, I'm going to color over here somewhere; maybe I'll cover the lines and hide them completely."

What happens when a few individuals operate through unified awareness and clarity, holding a higher possibility?  It creates a new transparency.  A transparency is not an absolute.  It is a higher possibility, a more expanded view of what could be.  An intelligence collective, a combination of intelligent individuals pooling their awareness, their sense of what could be possible, and their knowing that the highest good is taking place, is what brings about change and transformation.  History shows it is true.  A few individuals hear something, are inspired by it, talk about it, support and encourage it, and others become inspired by it, support and encourage it, and first thing you know, you have Christianity, or Buddhism.  How did it come about?  There was inspiration, inspiring a possibility, inspiring hope.  Those Christians did not have it easy in the beginning.  They were thrown to lions, tormented, put to death.  The consensus reality of the world at that time did everything it could to get rid of them, but there is something about suppression that creates an explosion.

So when we feel suppressed, we should be happy, because that suppression, that resistance, is empowering.  That is the nature of truth: once there is recognition of it, it cannot be stopped.  If truth is not recognized, it goes unseen, and a previous awareness or truth continues to have its way.
